What is the benefit of having a birth or postpartum doula?

Having a doula makes a huge difference in your birth experience. Equipped with knowledge about birth as well as having intuitive skills to cater to the needs of each birthing person, a doula is a critical advocate and support person in birth. From helping you find the comfort measures that work best for you, to being a listening ear to any worries or concerns you have, my job as a doula is to provide you with everything you need to have the best birthing and postpartum experience possible.

Where did you receive your training from?

I was trained by Doula Trainings International through their full spectrum doula training program. I chose DTI because I value their commitment to fiercely incorporating reproductive justice into their training. Between acknowledging birthing disparities based on race, and acknowledging that not all birthing people identify as a mother, DTI equipped me with knowledge about the intersections between birth, race, gender, and sexuality. Through this program, I also have training in abortion doula work.

Do you offer services in different languages?

Yes! I currently offer my services in both English and Japanese, and am working on adding Mandarin and Spanish to my skillset in the future.

How many clients do you take a month?

This depends on how many clients have due dates in a given month and how many hours of postpartum doula care I am giving. I am a full time doula so I usually take between 2-4 births a month.
